Introduction
The Medieval and Renaissance court conference is a one-day event, organised by post-graduate students for post-graduate students. The aim is to celebrate the study of the court, and to bridge the artificial gap between Medieval and Renaissance studies. Session titles include:
‘Royalty and Remembrance’, ‘Fashion’, ‘Gifts and Exchanges’, ‘Courtiers’ and ‘Spectacle’
This conference will allow research students from a range of disciplines to present and discuss new approaches to the study of European court life and culture in the period 1300-1600. The event is funded by the AHRC and organised by research students at Royal Holloway, Cambridge, Edinburgh and the Open University.
All disciplines are welcome – history, art, music, literature, architecture… The day will offer an opportunity to share in new research and encourage networks to be formed.
The intimate location of Royal Holloway’s Bedford Square rooms will provide a relaxed and friendly atmosphere for both contributors and delegates. It is also an excellent location; it is on the doorstep of Senate House, home to the Institute of Historical Research and the University of London Library. The British Museum and the British Library are also just a short walk away.
